Battlefield 3 lead platform 'switched to consoles' mid-development
DICE moved focus from PC to meet release date, reveals GM

Battlefield 3's lead development platform "switched" to consoles in mid-production,
DICE GM Karl-Magnus Troedsson has confirmed.
The DICE boss shared the news in the latest issue of PSM3, where he revealed that despite Battlefield 3 looking very much like a shooter designed for advanced PC hardware, the latter stages of Battlefield 3's construction lead on PS3 and Xbox 360 in order to meet release on time.

"We said originally that the PC was the lead SKU of the game, but in mid-production we switched to console as lead platform to make sure we could get all the versions done for release," Troedsson confirmed.

"Our ambition at DICE is to use the power of each individual platform to get the most out of the game," he added.

"In the case of the PS3... I understand that if you compare it to a high-end PC, it's not going to look as good. But if you compare it to other games on the PS3, including other games we've done previously, I have to say I'm very happy with how it looks.

"Hopefully people will agree when they look at it in the same way."

EA previously said it lead development on PC because that audience "has been the one complaining."

I think the reason people are getting lalalalaed off is based on the fact that they blatantly lied to their consumers and led them to believe that the end product was something completely different than what it turned out to be.

If you are going to state first and foremost that the game you are creating is a Console game that will be ported to PC, then state that. But don't blatantly mislead everyone by stating "We created this game with the intent of PC being the lead platform", and then stick by that statement time after time again.

This is the exact reason companies go belly up: They lie about their products and they manipulate their base to the point that, at the end of the day, they have neither their base, or the crowd they are aiming to attract.

I'm damn glad I didn't waste my money pre-ordering this garbage piece of lalalala game.

It's sad that the gaming industry has come to such a point that personal gains trumps consumer satisfaction.

It is extremely sad. This game showed so much promise and had the potential to be one of THE defining games mentioned with the likes of Goldeneye 007, Zelda and even Call of Duty 4. But instead it will be known as a game that was played the first few months, then completely tailed of after the release of MW3.

Good job DICE, MW3 Fans don't care about you, because to them you are a quick fix for their next high. and now alot, if not most, of the Battlefield players are saying you can go lalalala yourself.

Mission Accomplished

Well - they did it on BC2 and now it seems they have done it again on BF3:
Despite the fact that BF3's executive producer was claiming earlier that the mistakes
they had done on BC2 would not be repeated on BF3 they have taken a game that could
have been great on PC and just ported it to PC from console.

Will they never learn?

It's not rocket-science - they had the best base for a brilliant game in their hands - BF2
but instead they give us a game that has a million more or less useless unlocks/gadgets,
helis/jets that become impossible to fly if someone hits it with something bigger than a pistol
and big spacious maps - with all the flags clustered at the center.

Personally I do not believe that BF3 will have the same appeal to the masses
over time as BF2 had...for that it just feels a bit "off" - more like BC3 and not BF3
