Battlefield 3 has '10 times more unlocks than Bad Company 2'
Game "will be the deepest shooter in DICE history"

Battlefield 3 players will be treated to ten times as many unlocks as they were in Bad Company 2.
That's according to a post on the Battlefield 3 blog, which details all the different bits and pieces fans will be able to snap up during their time with developer DICE 's "deepest shooter" yet.

"Battlefield players are among the most loyal out there," says the blog. "Our games are literally played for years by our hardcore fans, and we want to actively support that. There should always be something left to achieve in Battlefield 3.

"Compared to Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3 will have more than 10 times the hardware unlocks spread over weapons, weapons attachments, gadgets, and a huge unlock tree for vehicles alone."

That's not all though. There will also be a string of medals, ribbons and service stars doled out to the most skilled soldiers who capture the most bases in one round, keep vehicles in mint condition and revive fallen team-mates.

"Even if you hit the max rank, there is always more glory to strive for with the new concept of Service Stars that we are introducing in Battlefield 3," the post continues.

"Keep playing and you will be eligible for even further promotion by getting Service Stars added to your weapon skill badge, your vehicle, your kit, and your overall rank.

"Any time your kill card is displayed, everyone will see exactly how experienced you are with your current equipment. The ultimate bragging right would be for a player to be awarded the rank of Colonel with 100 Service Stars attached, and to have 100 stars in all weapons, kits, and vehicles. "Getting there will be a massive task - consider that a challenge!"

Rounding it off are weapon upgrades that are specially tailored to different objectives, maps and situations. Of course, the other incentive to keep on battling away is Battlefield 3's Battlelog, which provides a detailed account of all your online gameplay stats.

Battlefield 3 unlocks will take 100 hours to collect
Prepare for a long war

If you're aiming to hit 100 percent on Battlefield 3 then you'd better quit your job before it arrives on shelves.
When asked on Twitter how long it would take to complete a kit on average, Battlefield 3's senior gameplay designer Alan Kertz replied with the following:

"If you unlock every weapon, every gadget, and every unlock for every weapon... something like 100 hours."

That's a pretty big number for the whole game and a ridiculous amount of time needed to complete a single kit so we're guessing Kertz was talking about unlocking everything.

And that's just the weapons and gadgets. It's already been confirmed that Battlefield 3 has 10 times the amount of unlocks as Battlefield 2 including "a huge unlock tree for vehicles alone."

There are also medals, ribbons and service stars to pick up as awards for skill and generally top notch soldiering.
